Ramsgate 2 Billericay 1

Published on July 30, 2010.

The Rams unbeaten run continued, whilst their Premier League visitors’ came to an end, with a solid performance at Southwood tonight.

Ramsgate took the lead in the 23rd minute when the ball ricocheted into the path of Aaron Beech, who kept his composure to slot the ball past the advancing ‘keeper. The Rams doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Ollie Gray met a cross and headed into the net, while a couple of minutes later Joe Taylor almost made it three but couldn’t quite connect with the ball. Ramsgate’s defence kept Billericay’s chances down to a minimum in the first half with excellent defending.

The 2nd half saw many changes and Billericay came more into the game but a great tip over the bar and then a penalty save from Conor Quinn kept the score at 2-0. With 15 minutes to go Quinn was replaced in goal by Brett Mills who himself pulled off a couple of excellent saves, but could do nothing to stop Billericay scoring with a fierce shot with 5 minutes to go, however Ramsgate held out to win the game.

Rams: Conor Quinn (Brett Mills), Curtis Winnett, James Gregory (Paul Axon), Luke Wheatley, Ollie Gray, Ben Laslett, Sam Frost (Ryan Harker), Warren Schulz (Andy Hadden), Joe Taylor (Gary Lockyer), Aaron Beech (Zack Thomas), Ashley Groombridge (Sammy Cliff).
