Great Yarmouth Town FCThe RAMS got their pre-season programme under way on Saturday with a visit to Great Yarmouth Town in Norfolk. The squad arrived at Sandown Road about 2.15pm, having endured over 5 hours in their minibuses, and barely had time to stretch before the 3pm kickoff.

A typical pre-season 1st half saw both sides create a couple of chances but neither made it count. In the 2nd half Curtis Winnett replaced Luke Wheatley, with Aaron Beech moving back from midfield to take the latter’s place in the defence. The Bloaters looked more determined after the interval, and had a couple of good breaks. The home side took the lead in the 57th minute, when Craig Roberts ran onto a cross from the left and his flick-on header went past Conor Quinn at the near post. The Bloaters nearly doubled their advantage 9 minutes later when Quinn pulled off a geat double block at the feet of two home side’s strikers.

The Ram’s pride was salvaged in the 88th minute when Warren Schulz floated the ball in from the right, and substitute Joe Taylor’s flick-on heade left the ‘keeper no chance.
