Ramsgate 0 Chipstead 1

Published on August 24, 2010.

Ramsgate started their home campaign with a league fixture against Chipstead (Surrey).

A first half that was peppered by free kicks saw a stop-start 45 minutes with neither team really dominating. The Chips went closest to breaking the deadlock in the 19th minute when Peter Martin struck the bar, while in the 33rd minute a clever freekick by James Gregory was met by Warren Schulz’s diving header that shaved the outside of the upright. However, the visitors took the lead in the 42nd minute when Dominic O’Shea got the better of Ollie Gray and crossed to the far post where Ray Freeman headed home.

The 2nd half was an equally scrappy affair, with neither side really getting the upper hand. Chipstead went down to ten men in the 80th minute when Louise Hollingsworth received his 2nd caution, while Liam Quinn was similarly dismissed in stoppage time.

Attendance 185.
