Tonight League leaders Leatherhead visited Southwood, and although the Rams drew 3-3 in the away fixture 6 weeks ago, two early goals gave the Tanners all they needed to return to Surrey with all three points.
The Rams had an enforced change in the 5th minute, when Ollie Gray had to be replaced after a severe two footed challenge. Within a minute the Tanners had taken the lead when Jon Boswell’s shot was deflected off Elliott Thompson and past Brett Mills. In the 12th minute Leatherhead extended their lead when Kev Terry broke down the right, crossing to Mark Simmons who fed Jack Macleod, who cut inside and fired in with his right.
The game continued in very blustery conditions but without further goals, although Kev Terry did hit the post for the Tanners with 15 minutes to go after going through one-on-one with Mills, but the young ‘keeper dealt with everything else put his way (including twice tipping curving shots over the bar).
Ramsgate: Brett Mills, Ollie Gray (Lee Hockey 5), James Gregory, Luke Wheatley, Liam Quinn, Ben Laslett (c), Mitchell Sherwood, Warren Schulz (Ryan Harker 76), Mark Lovell, Tom Tsangarides, Paul Axon (Sammy Cliff 63). Unused Subs: Curtis Winnett, George Amber.
