Whyteleafe 0 Rams 1

Published on November 24, 2010.

The Rams travelled to Surrey for a must-win game and, have scored 5 and taken all 3 points when Whyteleafe visited Southwood earlier in the season, a victory did not seem impossible. However, it is never an easy game at the Church Road ground and tonight was no exception.

A fairly even 1st half, with the ‘Leafe kicking down the slope, ended without a goal, and although the Rams called for a couple of saves from the home ‘keeper, all Jack Smelt had to deal with were a few crosses (which he either caught or punched clear without too much difficulty). In the 2nd half the Rams held sway, and although it was not until the 79th minute that Mitchell Sherwood scored from the spot, the Rams peppered the Whyteleafe goal and would have been a few goals up had it not been for an amazing display by their ‘keeper.

Three vital points for the Rams as they prepare for Saturday’s trip to Dulwich Hamlet and another must-win game.
