Tim Dixon Returns to Rams

Published on May 17, 2011.

Ramsgate are looking to build on the strong finish to the last season and have appointed former-Ram and East Kent Legend Timmy Dixon as 1st Team Assistant Manager to Jim Ward. Also joining the Rams’ 1st Team is experienced coach Darren Beale, currently at the Gillingham Academy, who worked with Tim at Dover under Andy Hessenthaler.

Tim, who still plays and scores goals on a Sunday, had successful playing careers under Chris Kinnear at Dover, Neil Cugley at Folkestone, and of course in Jim Ward’s double-winning side at Ramsgate in 1999 (pictured front right in team photo above). Talking of his return to Southwood Tim said “I’m really excited about coming back to Ramsgate, a club where I had a very enjoyable time as a player. Both Darren and I are familiar with the set up and ambition of the club and are really looking forward to being a part of the team and are hoping to get us back to the Premier division.”

Manager Jim Ward confirmed “The appointment of Tim and Darren will help the club move forward to become even more serious challengers for promotion, back to the Ryman Premier and hopefully to the Conference. I am convinced that the new set-up will get us back to the form where we won the League Cup and got into the play-offs a few years ago, and hopefully go one better”.

Current coach Richard Langley will continue to be involved with the 1st Team but his role will be expanded to managing and coordinating the new Ryman Under 21 team, and the Kent League Reserves in conjunction with Mark Weatherly. This will ensure that the flow of talent coming through the club has a clear route to maximise the potential of this excellent group of youngsters, giving them the opportunity to develop at the highest level.
