Ladies 16 Long Lane Res 4

Published on September 11, 2011.

The Ladies welcomed Long Lane Reserves for their first league game of the season, and with a strong starting line-up, losing was not an option for the Rams.

From the moment the ball was in play the Ladies were keen to attack and saw Tiff score the opening goal on the 4 minute mark. Not long after the Rams had a corner, which Megan crossed in to find Jen at the penalty spot, who drilled it bottom left where the goalkeeper almost reached it but the ball ended up going under her body. Jess then followed 10 minutes later to score her first of the game. Long Lane were looking to get back into the game and from a 35th minute corner an attempted clearance from Jade ended up in the back of the Ladies’ own net. Long Lane was then reduced to 10 players with one of them injured and they had no subs. Once the ball was back in play Tiff wasted no time in grabbing two more goals as the interval approached, and Jess got one more before the half time whistle to make the score 6-1.

In the second half the Rams showed what they can do with some great through balls and, using the wings with Megan and Peanut, set off a goal frenzy, with Tammy finding the back of the net in the 52nd and 56th minutes, Tiff’s fourth in the 62nd minute,  and Megan scoring in the 64th. Long Lane then scored from a corner, catching the Rams’ defence off-guard making it 10-2. Ramsgate responded with Tiff grabbing another three goals in the 71st, 81st and 82nd minutes, while the visitors returned from another corner making it 13-3. The game ended with a brace from Peanut (85th & 87th) and Jess grabbing the final goals (86th), along with Long Lane making the final score 16-4. Ramsgate’s Player of the Match (nominatted by the Opposition) was Peanut.
