Ladies 6 White Cliffs 1 – PSF

The Ladies welcomed League-rivals White Cliffs for their final pre-season game, and it was Ramsgate that got off to the better start. The first few minutes of the game saw some good one-touch passing in the centre of midfield and a nice through ball from Jess Smith found Tammy Pile-Gray, who had her shot cleared off the line by a White Cliffs player who made a last ditch slide across the goal line. This was the start of things to come and in only the 8^th minute Tammy went one-on-one with the ‘keeper and made no mistake this time, sliding the ball under the oncoming goalie. The girls did not stop there with the nice flowing football, and ten minutes later Tiff Routledge fired a right foot shot from the edge of the 18 yard box, which found the top corner of the net. Tiff then made her second of the game in the 27th minute after some good play from Jenni Caraccio in centre of midfield ended with her turning her player and putting a pin point pass to Tiff, who took it first time with her left foot and blasted it into the bottom corner of the goal. Just before half time Tammy got her second of the game, firing the girls 4-0 up at half time.

White Cliffs came out brighter in the 2^nd half and made it 4-1 in the 65th minute, while there were numerous changes in the Ramsgate side as the ladies were all trying to show that they deserve a starting place in next week’s league opener. In the 82nd minute Amy ‘Peanut’ Robinson found Megan Cavell, who hit it first time lobbing the Cliffs’ ‘keeper from 25 yards out. White Cliffs had by this point given up all hope of winning and a last minute corner from Megan was fired across the six yard box, where it hit Peanut and found its way into the net. A special mention also to Jo Cox, whose staunch defending warranted Player of the Match.

A big crowd was there to see the Ladies win this game, and a massive thank you to everyone who showed their support and the Ladies hope they will be back for the first League game against Long Lane Reserves at Southwood next Sunday (11^th), 2pm kickoff.
