A mixed bag today with three of the Kent Youth League teams winning, while there was one league defeat and one cup loss – exactly the same as for the 5 East Kent Youth League teams.
Kent Youth League
The Under 18s played Faversham Town at Southwood and won 4-0 thanks to a brace from Tom Chapman and singles from George Stannard and Ben Tite.
The Under 16s continued their good form with a home win against Ashford United and managed to keep another clean sheet, with great defensive performances from Ben Davies, Macaulay Durling, Dan Barrett and Jordon Box across the back to continue from conceding since the first game of the season. The Rams started strong and managed to pressurise the Ashford goal from the start with Jarrett Francis’ superb diving header crashing against the cross bar, and it wasn’t long before some good link up play between Ben Munday. Dylan Hawkins and Kane Rowland ended with Rowland smashing the ball into the back of the net from close range to get the Rams of the mark. Ramsgate continued to play some nice football but it was a solo effort that gave the Rams a two goal cushion when stand in Captain and man of the match Dan Barrett went on a blistering run from defence which ended with a superb thirty yard lob that beat the ‘keeper and left the Rams two up at the break. The Rams continued strongly following the break playing attacking football, and when Rowland was pushed over in the area Dominic Crawford stepped up to convert from the spot give the Rams a bit of breathing space as, with only having one sub due to players on holiday, the Rams were starting to tire near the end. However, Dylan Hawkins scored a much deserved goal before the end when following some strong play bullied his way into the area to smash home.
The Under 15s progressed to the next round of the County Cup with a comfortable victory over a valiant Hythe Stars & Stripes outfit who only trailed 2-1 at half time, due to some game defending and wayward finishing. The Rams proceeded to convert their many chances in the 2nd half and ran out comfortable winners with a goal tally in double figures. The Rams’ scorers were Adam Turton 3, Callum Kennelly 2, Mark Robinson 2 and 1 a piece for Ryan Coleman, Jack Penny & Josh Jackson.
The Under 14s’ League Cup tie against Peckham Town was re-scheduled from last week, but the young Rams suffered their first defeat of the season going down 4-2 to the London side. The Rams’ goals came from Harris Rodgers and Adam Brandon.
The Under 13s travelled to Maidstone United with less than the bare 11, and suffered heavily as a result.
East Kent Youth League
The Under 18s were away to Herne Bay and returned with all 3 points after a 3-0 win. The Rams were leading 2-0 at half-time through Dillon Harris and Dean James, with Dan Tucker adding the 3rd in the 2nd half.
The Under 16s welcomed Hythe Stars & Stripes to St Lukes but ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 score-line, the Rams’ goal coming from Jordan Godwin.
The Under 14s played Canterbury in the League Cup at Pfizer but went out 3-1, the Rams’ goal coming from Connor McAteer.
The Under 13s welcomed Whitstable Town Juniors to Pfizer in the League Cup and having led 2-0 at the interval progressed to the next round with a 4-2 win thanks to a brace apiece from Tom Perriam and Philipos Stamatiou. Joint Players of the Match were Haydon Croxton and Callum Barry.
The Under 12s completely routed a demoralised Dover Rangers side that have been shipping goals all season. Eight goals from Jack Walton, four from Finlay McConnell, two for Billy Walker, and one apiece for Scott Roddam and Josh Richards, topped off with an unstoppable penalty from Alex Turner the Rams keeper, made it 17-0 before Dover got a consolation goal at the last knockings, for a final score of17-1. All the boys played their part and everyone got a run-out – sterner opposition next week though.
