The Ladies travelled to Gravesham with nine players hoping that Tammy would be meeting them there. Once arriving their confidence was not knocked as Gravesham could only make 8 players for their team.
Ramsgate started strongly with just the 9, as Tammy was still not there, and wasted no time to get the score line started, with Peanut scoring in the 8th minute. The strong winds and sloping pitch made it harder work for the players to send the ball forward but with some quick passes Peanut scored again in the 20th minute and her hat-trick came on the 30th. The Ladies’ midfield player Megan started the game in goal, and didn’t really see much action apart from taking all the free kicks given for Gravesham’s off sides. Finally Tammy appeared and the referee let her straight on. With her first run on the ball, and only being on the pitch for a minute, she scored from a through ball from Jen and tucked it past the ‘keeper. There was no stopping her then as she scored in the 39th and 40th minutes.
Within two minutes of the second half kicking off Tammy made another great run, making it look too easy, and knocking the ball past the ‘keeper. The defence stayed strong with Vicky going up for a corner to score a bullet header in the top right corner, getting her first goal for Ramsgate in the 52nd minute. With the score line looking strong Melanie swapped with Megan as goalie, and she took no time with her first attempt on goal in the 58th minute, hitting a right foot volley into the left hand corner of the goal, which left the ‘keeper with no chance. Gravesham by this point were frustrated and started to challenge a bit on the strong side, but the Ramsgate Ladies stayed resolute, and Tammy found the net again in the 60th, 68th, and 77th minutes. Sadly Tammy then fell foul to one of these challenges and had to go off when a nasty tackle resulted in a knee injury. The final score was 12-0 and it was a good performance all round from the Ladies, it was just a shame they couldn’t put out a full squad.
Lady Rams: Megan, Eva, Vicky, Melanie, Janine, Rachel, Jen, Peanut, Sophie, Tammy.
Once again Peanut got Player of the match.
Next Sunday (30th October) the Ladies will be at home to Teynham Gunners in the League Cup, 2pm kickoff.
