It was back to League action for Ramsgate today, with a trip to Champions Hill in south London, the home of 2nd place Dulwich Hamlet. Jim Ward decided to shuffle his pack of players from the team that beat Chipstead on Wednesday. Speedy winger Pascal Ebigbo was replaced on the right wing by Joe Taylor, Warren Schulz was preferred to Simon Pettit in midfield, Mitchell Sherwood returned to his defensive duties and Ian Pulman returned up front.
However, for the third match running the Rams paid for their slow start. By the time Andre Costa’s 3rd minute drive beat the diving Danny Twyman by the right post, Dulwich Hamlet had already had efforts by Kamara and James saved by Twyman. The Rams recovered their defensive poise following this and the match turned into a hard fought midfield battle with the Rams unable to find a way through the Dulwich defence, superbly marshalled by Francis Duku. A smart move between Costa and Sanchez Ming produced a wonder save by Twyman to tip the ball over the bar.
The introduction of Pascal Ebigbo, surprisingly replacing Steve O’Brien, gave the Rams more threat and Liam Quinn was unlucky to see his shot deflected on 62. James Gregory cleared off the line on 72 and a minute later a fantastic block by Luke Wheatley prevented what had seemed a certain goal. Schulz drove over on 77 as his blocked free-kick returned to him but the Rams were unable the further threaten the home defence.
