Tonight Ramsgate welcomed Chipstead to Southwood for this 3rd round tie in the Alan Boon Cup, and with the teams only one place apart in the League a close encounter seemed likely. The Chips took an early lead however when Rams’ ‘keeper Danny Twyman let a fairly straightforward catch go through his hands in the opening minutes, which they maintained to the interval.
In the 2nd half the Rams piled on the pressure, with the introduction of srikers Mark Lovell and Tom Chapman, and the former equalised from the penalty spot following an incident that saw the Chips’ ‘keeper dismissed. The winner came from skipper Liam Quinn when he found the top far corner of the net from the left side of the area.
