PREVIEW: Ramsgate v Walton Casuals

1 year ago By Sam Perkins

After a thrilling encounter midweek against Cray Wanderers, Ramsgare now host Walton Casuals at Southwood on Saturday

The Stags are still in the FA Cup, unlike Ramsgate, but last season the Rams did the double over Walton Casuals in the League - 2-1 at the Waterside Stadium and then 2-0 at Southwood.

Tuesday saw a tough battle against old Kent League adversaries Cray Wanderers, where after trailing 1-0 at the interval Ramsgate turned it into a 2-1 lead before Cray equalised - and if only that penalty and a couple of other shots hadn’t hit the ‘woodwork’ ...

On Wednesday the U21s visited Herne Bay and came back with all 3 points and increased their lead at the top of the table with a 9-2 win!

The 1st Team are home again next Tuesday week, when Greenwich Borough visit Southwood for the first time in a dozen years, but before that the Rams will be at Sittingbourne on Tuesday 13 September in the League Cup and Tooting & Mitcham Utd next Saturday (who are also out of the FA Cup, albeit being knocked out in the Preliminary Round through a 1-0 home defeat by East Preston).

Next up at Southwood are the U16s, who welcome Faversham Town on Sunday, 11am kickoff, while the Ryman U18 team is playing Ashford United at 745pm on Monday 12 September, and the U21s are host to current 2nd place East Grinstead Town on Thursday 15 September, also a 745pm kickoff.
