Saturday again brought out the good and bad in our game. Travelling to an in-form Corinthian-Casuals outfit was always going to be a tough fixture but some of our attacking play in the first half was excellent resulting in us taking a 2-goal lead. I don't know how many times I keep saying it but defensive errors cost us again and it was bitterly, bitterly disappointing to concede the lead before half time from 2 mistakes.
I said to my players that it's not necessarily your technical ability that will win us games but sometimes knowing the ‘dark arts’ of the game that earn us points. We can be naive at times and had we seen out the half with better game management then it would've been a completely different outcome. These young players will have to learn the hard way but I've said I expect more from my senior players.
Alfie's first goal was something we have worked on in training and was very pleasing whilst Billy Munday slotted home excellently from another dangerous Tom Chapman run. I know they listen, they're honest lads and are working extremely hard to change our run of results.
Your support has been fantastic and it's now more than ever these players need it. On Saturday in the pouring rain the visiting fans all clapped the players off because they know they give everything and I've no doubt their effort will be rewarded.
I'm expecting a very challenging contest at Southwood tomorrow night too, especially as both teams find ourselves in league positions we didn't expect to be at the beginning of the season.
Hope to see you there,
