The Under 23s travelled to Whyteleafe on Wednesday evening and after playing all their football the home side parked the bus with a back 5 with the 4 in front.
Ramsgate started with great football at high tempo but couldn’t find a way though, forcing shots from distance with Sam Bradley having two great left foot efforts saved, and it looked like it was going to be a long night. However, 40 minutes in, after some poor defending from a corner, the Rams found themselves 1-0 down.
Half-time changes saw Josh Kelsall was brought on for Jordan Bartlett, and the Rams started the second half with the same tempo as the first, taking the game to the home side. With 15 minutes played Connor Wilsher made way for Billy Lewins on. Finally, with 10 minutes to go, Billy Munday broke the line of the home side and slotted home to make it 1-1. A change in formation saw Louis Harris replace Sam Bradley, and with the Rams’ belief restored they hit the home side hard, and after a perfect delivery from the corner Matt Causer finished with a perfect header to give Ramsgate the lead. With the home side chasing the game for the first time they began to leave all sorts of gaps, and Billy Lewins finished with class after working his way in behind the defence in stoppage time to make it a 3-1 for the Rams.
With the win taking them up to 2nd place in the table, Under 23s now have to wait until November 2 for their next game, when they welcome top of the League Hastings to Southwood.
