Just finished compiling the 1st team appearances from 22 years ago (average age of the current squad), and I was surprised how many are still involved with the club (either in a named, or unnamed, capacity).
See how many you recognise HERE
As a bonus, let's see if anyone knows which game the Vice-Chairman scored in (as a clue, it was a home game on the first day of spring, and his goal was the 2nd in a 2-1 win)

I'll probably get slated for this but all of the following players on that list have profiles on my site which is http://www.margatefchistory.com
Baber, Curtis, Dwyer, Edmonds, Fassam, Jefcoate, Lamb, McVitie, Medus, J.Munday, M.Munday, Newton, Pugh, Scriven, Karl Smith and Kevin Smith
…just thought I'd mention it in case it jogs a few memories.

Thanks for this, Martin. This was my second season watching the Rams on a regular basis, not a very exciting or successful season; I think we got to 2 cup finals the previous season, winning 1-0 against Faversham at Priestfield [KST], and losing to Alma Swanley at the old Bell Ground in Sittingbourne [Kent League Cup]. I think the team from the previous season included Bobby Miles in goal, and the Hemmings brothers, Richard and Neville – correct me if I'm wrong! I remember a good few of those on your list, the Mundays, Pugh, Rigden, O'Connell [a no nonsense defender from the Royal Marines at Deal!], Newton, Scriven, Medus [player-manager?], Rimmer, Wells, Friend, Wheeler, Lamb, Wickens and a diminutive, tigerish midfielder still connected to the club whose name escapes me!
Ah, nostalgia, it's not what it used to be !!
COME ON YOU MIGHTY RAMS!!!

I think there's a website somewhere that might tell you whether or not Vic Medus was the Rams' player-manager…

Well, the answer to the quiz was Kent Police. Line up was Brian Curtis, David Wheeler, Paul Lamb, Gary Wickens, John Rigden, Stuart Wells, Mark Munday, David Sutton, Gary Pugh, Paul Jefcoate, Kingsley Williams. Used sub was David Ottley, unused sub was Paul Cooper (yep, only 2 subs in those days). First goal in the 2-1 win was scored by Gary Pugh.
Where are they now? Well, from those I know, Paul Lamb is assisting with the U8s (who his lad plays for), John Rigden is in Sussex but his nephew Chris plays for the U18KYL team (I think John's dad/Chris's Grandad also played for the Rams), Mark Munday manages the U15KYL team (with sons in 2 of our youth sides), and PJ ………… still see him there from time to time!!
For those who like to reminisce, or for younger fans who like to see what names THEY recognise, why not have a look at the appearances for 1990/91, 1991/92 and 1992/93.
As for Vic Medus, he joined the Rams from school and then played at Southwood for a while before a trip to the estuary side, and then returned to the Rams in mid-80s. Player/manager for 88/89 and the first half of the 89/90 season, when he stepped down as manager and carried on playing. Still managing the U18KYL side, and had a brief reunion with John Rigden at the FA Youth Cup tie at Three Bridges in October 2011.
(PS – excellent site Jeff, highly recommended)

Very interesting to look through the names for the 1991/2 and 1992/3 seasons as I played in the under 18s those seasons alongside a few of those lads. However, although Stuart always tried to keep up when he was coaching us, I think it was his son, Simon who played for the first team!
Great stats though Martin, many thanks.

Thanks for that. Couldn't find his full name in any of the programmes I have so assumed it was Stuart – I'll correct that.
Anyone know the full name of 'keeper A Garrod from 1990/91? I will do more as and when I get the info, so come on you Rams' Fans – let's share the happy memories.

Wonderful stuff, this, thanks Martin . So many memories flooding back! What a difference a settled team made in 92/93.
90/91 and 91/92: 4 players played 30+ games and we scored 56 and 55 league goals respectively.
92/93: 9 players played 30+ games and we scored 74 league goals; it helped of course that we had Lennie Lee banging them in! Scott Forbes and David Coles I remember well; Scott was one of the best defenders I ever saw at Kent League level, and David Coles was equally capable at left back and centre forward!

I think we all recall David's free kick at Whitstable in the last minute to beat Beckenham in the cup final. Funny we never beat Whitstable there but got two cup wins!
