Croydon Athletic Football Club has resigned from the Ryman League.

A statement issued by the club stated the club’s owner Jenna Manji
instructed the club to write to the Ryman Isthmian Football League on
Tuesday (January 17) to inform them it had resigned as a
member club with immediate effect.

The Rams were given a stay of execution on January 5 by the Ryman
League board, who decided they should be given one last chance to find a
way out of their debt-ridden mire before they are thrown
out.

However the decision was made to resign from the league before the
deadline on Friday January 20 Chris Roots, club chairman, said: “The
football club has effectively folded. We are playing no
football, we are out of the league, the stadium is abandoned – It is
very sad.”

The club has not played a game since running out of money on December 3
and has no players or home, with the KT stadium locked up.

The club was handed a £7,500 fine and deducted 10 points after
pleading guilty to charges of misconduct by the Football Association in
December 2011.

A statement said: “The Football Club thanks players, officials,
volunteers and supporters who have been part of the Football Club since
it was formed in 1986 and who have given tirelessly to it
over that time."

Sad. Sorry for the fans. Now what re games played and goals scored. All void? Pity we don't have more points on the table, but still, 3 points closer whichever way it goes.

For RamsFC, England and St. George

Normally, in cases like this, the results of the resigning club are "expunged from the records", in other words, the games they played are treated as never having happened, and each team's points, goals for and against are adjusted accordingly.  I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

Very unfortunate for the few real fans of Croydon Athletic, but not so for the few who will have jumped on the bandwagon when they found untold riches and successCool

ACCENTUATE THE POSITIVE – ELIMINATE THE NEGATIVE!
