Rams 3 East Grinstead 2
Rams take sting out of the Wasps
The visitors started brightly forcing the Rams onto the back foot, and after 21 minutes Gregory Cundle went through for the Wasps giving them an early lead. The Rams responded well to going a goal down and within 2 minutes were level again with a Wheatley header. The Rams then took charge with attacks coming down the left, Tom Chapman and Jack Penny taking it in turns to press. A cross from Penny in the 35th, saw Chapman in the middle head on to the bar, and the ball rebounded straight to Ollie Gray who finished into the back of the Wasps net to give the Rams a well-deserved, albeit fortunate, 2-1 lead at half time.
The second half was a much more open affair with both teams creating chances, but it was not until the 67th minute when from a fantastic solo run from Chapman that we saw a goal. Running through and moving across the goal with the ‘keeper and defender still to beat he fired a powerful shot over both to take the Rams into a 3-1 lead. The Wasps responded with good inter-play, playing a lot of through balls troubling a rather flat Ramsgate defence, it was Cundle again running through to put the ball away making it 3-2 in the 73rd minute to set up a grand finale with the Rams holding on to take all 3 points.
