Ramsgate’s recent unbeaten run was brought to an end by 3rd-place Carshalton in a closely fought match at a bitterly cold Southwood.
The turning point in the match came in the 68th minute when Ramsgate right-back Jake Mackenzie was sent off for a second bookable fence, after a foul on the speedy Ryan Gondoh. Only 2 minutes earlier the Rams had scored a superb equaliser when Aaron Millbank slid into Jack Penny's defence breaking pass from the left, to score a deserved equaliser (pictured).
It was a match of few goal scoring opportunities up until then, the visitors had taken the lead when leading scorer Tommy Bradford hit a crisp shot which went in off the underside of the bar after good work from Mickel Miller. Bradford was guilty of the miss of the match on 71 when he headed wide from 6 yards with an open goal in front of him.
The match was finally decided on 81 when Sekou Kaba notched home the winner.
The Rams travel to South Park next Saturday (18 February) where they will aim to continue the push backup the table.
