After Phoenix the Rams rise up at Faversham

Last Saturday our performance against Phoenix Sports wasn't the start we were looking for. Several key players were unavailable due to many different reasons and although our young players did extremely well, our level of performance wasn't quite good enough. It was lacking intensity, quality and game management, however saying that our young players can take a lot from the experience.

It was then vitally important to bounce back against Faversham on Tuesday evening. Ray Turner and Clive Walker’s team has always been a very tough side to beat and it was only after the game that I was made aware that our record at Salters Lane over the years didn't make good reading. Our preparation was detailed and our execution was fantastic. Every player selected did exactly what was asked and a 2-1 victory was the very least we deserved. I don't like singling out individuals, especially when everyone played so well, but I feel it's important to mention Jake Munday, Alfie Paxman and Jack Penny, who for their age were able to show real maturity well beyond their age (especially after a defeat a few days previous).

Tomorrow we start our FA Cup campaign and our visitors, Hanworth Villa, have started their league campaign positively and no doubt will provide us with an extremely tough challenge. So I hope to see as many of you at Southwood as possible.

Cheers,

Blacky
