23 Sep: Thamesmead 1 Ramsgate 3

2 months ago By Martin Able

Rams return to Princes Park ... and take all 3 points from The Mead.

Today the Rams visited another of the teams transferred from the Isthmian North to the Bostik South, former-Kent League rivals Thamesmead Town.

The Mead have made a better start to this season’s campaign and were sitting on 5 points more than the Rams, but the 3 points from today's win lifts the Rams up a place.

Ramsgate got off to a good start and the scoring commenced when Tom Chapman slotted the ball into the net from 18 yds in the 9th minute, while 8 minutes later Chappers made it 2-0 when ‘keeper Lewis Carey seemed unable to stop the ball from rolling over the line. Just after the half-hour mark and Alfie Paxman made it 3-0 when he headed in Rory Smith’s cross, and while in the closing minutes of the half Scott Kinch replaced Bode Anidugbe for the Mead, and George Crimmen then came on for Ollie Gray for the Rams, there were no more goals before the interval.

Thamesmead were determined to make a go of it, and three minutes after the restart Tashi-Jay Kwayie got one back for the Mead. Just before the hour-mark Jake Munday replaced Woollcott, and a few minutes later Mead manager Tommy Warrilow introduced Alex Teniola and Simon Glover for Dane Luchford and Joe Denny in an attempt to overcome the Rams. With less than 15 to go Lloyd Blackman brought TJ Jadama on for the hardworking Paxman, but the Rams had done enough to take all three points.

Rams: Luke Watkins, Jake Mackenzie, Jack Penny, Joe Kane, Luke Wheatley, Ollie Gray (George Crimmen), Tom Chapman 2, Adam Woollcott, Rory Smith, Dan Lawrence, Aflie Paxman 1 (TJ Jadama). Unused Subs: Jacob Mensah, Dan Keyte.

Attendance 74 (but I suppose Dartford is a half-hour drive from Thamesmead – if you don’t get stuck at Erith)

Next up for the Rams is a visit to Sittingbourne in the Velocity Sports League Cup on Tuesday 26 September – kickoff at Woodstock Park, Broadoak Road (ME9 8AG) is at 745pm.
