Tuesday evening we went down 1-0 to an organised VCD team, which I felt was unjust. It was a fast and frantic game, which didn't allow for as much football as we would've liked. Ideally we like to move the ball better than we did, but sometimes you get games like that.
There seemed to be very little space however we did get ourselves into dangerous areas yet our final pass wasn't quite up to our usual standards. I can only remember Luke making one save up until their goal, and although it wasn't a game very pleasing on the eye I felt that a point would've been a fair result.
Myself, staff and players feel your frustration with these recent inconsistent results.
Last season people called our end of season run a success... I, however, didn't. It wasn't a 4 month project to finish half way up the table, it's a long-term plan that will see us continue to work with and develop these young players.
So, just as back then you never heard me singing from the roof tops, you equally now will not see me panic. These players will learn from this experience and come back stronger because they are good, talented footballers. I'm looking for reactions and the attitude to continuously want to improve and progress. I see that with this group... the moment I don't then there will be changes.
On Saturday we have an earlier start, when we are visited by Guernsey. I look forward to seeing you in the bar afterwards.... hopefully celebrating 3 points.
