27 Apr: Blacky's Briefing

Lloyd looks back and forward

So the season has finally ended .... Some people have said it's gone too quick, others have said it's gone too slow. For us however it's simply come too soon.

Ten games unbeaten and a fantastic result against Molesey at home last Saturday means we can go away this summer and enjoy our time apart knowing when we are back we have an unbeaten record to defend.

I couldn't have asked more from my players since taking over in early January. As backroom staff we sit in our office after games and are just full of compliments for the players. They really have embraced this change and responded well to the things we've asked them to do and that's reflected in our record together 11 wins, 6 draws and only 2 defeats.

We are also pleased to announce that George Crimmen, Luke Watkins, Joe Kane, Jack Penny, Jake Mackenzie and Luke Girt all agreed new contracts last week. This week Tom Chapman, Aaron Millbank and Alfie Paxman signed too. Dan Lawrence, Luke Wheatley and Ollie Gray have also agreed to sign for next season.

For my players the summer is a time for recuperation and to rest injuries that they may have picked up, but for me and my staff it's business in different ways. Before we know it pre-season is back upon us and the players have already told me that they can't wait to get going again.

Rarely as a player did I have that feeling but it certainly shows the players’ minds are focused on what we can achieve next season already. I too can feel there's something special happening here with this group of players and I'm grateful to be leading them.....and as already said, we've got an unbeaten run to defend.

See you in July.
