Unfortunately we’ve had a frustrating period after the Molesey victory due to ‘Beast from the East’ putting halt to the entire Bostik South programme last week. On the positive it did give a few players some time to recharge their batteries as we now approach the home straight this season. I felt a few players looked a little jaded during the Molesey victory however after a week’s break we were back to it on Tuesday with an excellent performance and victory against Sittingbourne.
I’ve said it plenty of times this season and the fans that travelled to Woodstock Park will bear witness, because being 2-0 down after an hour considering the chances, the possession and the control we were in, was not deserved. The Molesey victory certainly galvanised these young players and I could see that confidence taken into the Sittingbourne game, and even though we left ourselves an uphill battle with 30 minutes left, I was immensely proud of the spirit, togetherness and quality the players were able to show, and in my opinion fully deserved the 3 points.
That’s two victories on the bounce now and we’ve set our own in-house target with 10 games to go. No doubt Chipstead will prove to be a tough fixture on Saturday afternoon but our confidence is in a good place and I’m very much looking forward to the challenge, especially as it will involve some old playing colleagues Rob Smith, Rob Kember and Gareth Graham. After our last meeting back in December we left Surrey with a point after a bright start and goal from Alfie Paxman. I remember being happy with the result although a little disappointed in our performance. Hopefully the feeling after last night’s game will still be with us come Sunday.
Thanks for your support.
Up the Rams!
