Today Ramsgate travelled to Surrey to face Chipstead, who were five places and two points above the Rams, and although a win would have seen the teams change places, as all the sides between them also drawing both the Rams and Chips stay in the same positions.
The Rams took the lead in the 10th minute when Alfie Paxman’s shot from the left took a slight deflection off a defender on its way into the goal, and after a Chipstead sub 7 minutes later, the Chips equalised in the 19th minute when Sam Bell headed home after out-jumping the Rams’ defence.
At the interval Billy Munday gave way to brother Jake, and with Allan Tait being introduced for the hosts on 73, Billy Lewins replaced Danny Lawrence 6 minutes later – but there were no more goals.
Rams: Luke Watkins, Jake Mackenzie, Jack Penny, Liam Dickson, Jacob Mensah, Ollie Gray, Tom Chapman, Billy Munday (Jake Munday), Rory Smith, Danny Lawrence (Billy Lewins), Alfie Paxman. Unused Subs: Aaron Millbank, George Crimmen, Lewis Mitchell.
Next up for the Rams is the home game against leaders Lewes on Saturday 16 December (followed in the evening by the ‘Heroes & Villains’ Christmas event in the Clubhouse)
