“Looking back on our trip to Guernsey, I had said these can have turn out to be a real positive experience for the players, and that's how it proved to be. A big ‘thank you’ to all the staff behind the scenes who organised everything and allowed the players to solely focus on the match. We stayed at Gatwick the night before then flew over early Saturday morning.
“Our preparation was excellent and the time together really helped improve our already high team spirit. Goals from Aaron Millbank, Alfie Paxman and Ollie Gray, as well as a fantastic defensive display, meant we not only left the Channel Islands with the victory but also a well-earned 2nd clean sheet in a row.
“We take that confidence into this run of tough fixtures we are entering, but we are well aware that we cannot rest on our laurels and must continue to improve individually and collectively .... and with the fans’ continued support I'm sure the boys will do them proud.
“On Saturday we welcome Carshalton Athletic, including my ex-teammate and now manager there, Peter Adeniyi.
“Peter has done a fantastic job since he took over approximately a year ago and the game will arguably be the toughest since I took charge. With a victory away at Guernsey last weekend, it's the continuation of a very tough month for us but is certainly one match we are looking forward to – and we hope the fans will enjoy it too.”
