It's always a lively fixture with South Park, and today the Sparks got their own back for the Rams’ 3-1 win at Whitehall Lane in February.
The match began as a mixture of midfield battles and defences doing their jobs, until Chris Smith’s unstoppable volley at an acute angle on 39 to give the visitors the lead.
The second half was more of the same until South Park were awarded a penalty on 62 and Kieran Lavery extended the lead. The Rams were still making inroads to the Sparks’ area, and two penalty shouts were dismissed, but with 4 minutes to go Alfie Paxman supplied the ball that saw Rory Smith evade the usual challenges to slot past ‘keeper Callum Thomas (pictured). The Rams chased for an equaliser but in stoppage time Josh Gallagher found himself with just Luke Watkins to beat and sealed the Sparks’ win.
Rams: Luke Watkins, Joe Kane, Jake Mackenzie, George Crimmen, Luke Wheatley, Ollie Gray, Tom Chapman, Adam Woollcott (Jake Munday), Rory Smith, Dan Lawrence (Jack Penny), Alfie Paxman. Unused SUbs: Dan Keyte, Jacob Mensah, TJ Jadama.
Next up for the Rams is a trip to Ashford Utd on Tuesday evening (12 Sept), 745 kickoff.
