Tonight the young Rams faced Kingstonian, who currently play out of Banstead Athletic's ground at Tadworth, with Ramsgate continuing their unbeaten run to 6 games by dispatching a very physical Kingstonian team.
Ramsgate made 4 changes to the starting line-up, bringing in Corey Hanson, Callum Weatherly, Sam Bradley and Finlay McConnell - all attacking players. The first half was a poor display from both sides however, which appeared to be born from the opposition playing a physical game that the Rams struggled with throughout the midfield, and the Rams trailed 1-0 at the interval following Orlando George-Ibotoye's strike in the 15th minute.
The second half was a different affair, and the young Rams transformed into a team full of passion and produced a great work ethic throughout, rewarded by a terrific finish from Sam Bradley 10 minutes after the restart. Three early changes with Bradley Torrance, Josh Richards and Ollie Harris then pushed the intensity to another level, with each and every player winning their individual battles. Another good finish by Sam Bradley from a perfect free kick made it 2-1 to the young Rams with 20 minutes to go, but unfortunately this proved too much for the visitors. The tension escalated and Kingstonian’s manager was sent to the stands, followed up by an unfortunate incident that ended with a player from each side being dismissed, and 10 minutes later another Kingstonian player was sent for an early bath.
The game was all but over after Sam got his hat-trick, with an amazing first time strike from 20 yards in the 85th minute, capping a great second half display, which was the response required by the managers at half-time.
Before the game Kingstonian were only 1 space below Ramsgate in the table, but as a result of the win the Rams are now two places clear, leap-frogging Corinthian.
