Blacky's Briefing: Reaction to Advancing in FA Cup as Rams get Ready for Thamesmead Town
Last Saturday we contested a very scrappy affair with Sevenoaks Town in the FA Cup. It was one of those days when the harder we tried the worse it got for us. However what was very pleasing was the boys did not stop working. There’s a mental strength developing within the group and they were able to identify things weren’t things weren’t going their way but were able to get the equaliser which kept us in the hat.
Then rolling in to Tuesday we had to contend with the worsst possible start. Young TJ Jadama had to be replaced very early so we had to reshuffle things from the word go. Our start though was electric and after 25 minutes we were 2-0 up. More injuries, this time Sammy Lawford, meant we had to reshuffle again, however our tactics were spot on and the players executed them to the letter. I couldn’t have been more pleased for the boys, and a trip to Gosport awaits us in the next round.
As you may know, TJ has been suffering from a neck injury over the past few weeks ago, so after the tie on Tuesday he headed over to A&E concerned something wasn’t quite right. X-rays showed he has a fracture to one of the vertebrae in his neck, which has left us all pretty shocked. He’s been absolutely tremendous for us and another fantastic prospect from our academy.
We all wish TJ a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back in a Ramsgate shirt very soon.
On Saturday we face Thamesmead Town in the League, and as Tommy Warrilow’s side have had a very similar start to ourselves the fixture should be very close.
Look forward to seeing you up there, and hope you enjoy the game.
Up the Rams!
