Blacky's Briefing: Thamesmead Victory Reaction as we Prepare for "Tough" Gosport Borough in FA Cup
The fact we are managing to get results when we aren’t necessarily playing our best football is a very underestimated quality.
Last week at Thamesmead our ball retention wasn’t as good as we would’ve like it and we invited more pressure on us than I actually felt we needed. However we were able to put together some bits of quality in the attacking phase and that’s where our goals came from. We defended resolutely and then could’ve scored a couple more on the counter attack later in the game.
This young group are showing real character to roll up there sleeves as I’ve said previously, and are doing what is required to gain results and that is very important. Strangely the result against Guernsey is the only game we’ve lost in 6 and was a game we really should’ve won so I’m pleased with the run we are on.
We take that form now on to Gosport Borough this Saturday in the FA cup. They have won their 3 home games this season and there is no doubt it’ll be a really tough match. Training went well Tuesday and tonight we will continue to prepare to give it our best shot. I want the players to enjoy these occasions, express themselves when the time is right because no one believes in their ability more than I do.
I understand there are good numbers making their way down to the game Saturday so I look forward to seeing as many faces there to support the lads.
For those not attending, Scott Roberts’ Reserve team will be playing at Southwood on Saturday so be sure to pop along.
Up the Rams.
