Blacky's Briefing: Unbeaten run Continues as we Prepare for League Leaders Cray Wanderers
Last week was a very well earned 3 points against a good East Grinstead side. I said before the match that I felt our opponents' league position was a false one and I stand by that. It was not our prettiest performance and was rather patchy. At times our play was excellent yet we were unable to control the game how we wanted to. We looked pretty nervous if I’m being honest and it took us 15 minutes to relax, but once Wheats got us back on level terms with a rehearsed set piece I felt we would push on as we settled down.
Connor Sanders got a good 70 minutes under his belt and when we can bring the likes of Charlie Dickens in it shows we have real depth in our squad, as I thought he did really well when he came on. We were able to defend well and see out the game and I was really pleased with the boys' efforts and felt the 3 points was thoroughly deserved.
This coming Sunday we travel to unbeaten league leaders Cray Wanderers. We are all well aware of the tough task that awaits us, however we are 7 league games unbeaten and we’ll take that confidence into the weekend. I want the players to enjoy the game and it’ll be a good benchmark as to whereabouts we are as we look to continue our push for a play-off spot. It’s a position that the club haven’t been in for a while and with a third of the season gone already we are there on merit and I want the players to embrace the challenge ahead.
Good results against Phoenix Sports, Hythe Town, Horsham and Whyteleafe show we are a tough side to beat, and come Sunday we will have to be at our best but I’ve faith in what we are doing so we’ll certainly give it a good go.
Thanks for the amazing support. Over 200 bods there on Saturday in pretty chilly conditions so a big "Thank you". Let’s see if we can get 250+ over the next few weeks as it makes such a difference to this young side.
