Jack Paxman: Phoenix Performance a Massive Improvement Compared to Ashford Midweek
Jack Paxman has reacted to a much improved Ramsgate performance on Saturday afternoon against Phoenix Sports in the Isthmian League.
“Saturday’s performance against Phoenix was a massive improvement from the Ashford game midweek,” Paxman said.
“We kept our shape a lot better, we moved the ball a lot better and more importantly we didn’t give Phoenix any time on the ball which I thought was key.”
“It’s obviously disappointing to concede the own goal because I think as a defensive unit we were all very solid.”
“I thought we limited them to a slim amount of chances throughout the game but unfortunately these kind of things can happen in football; you’ve just got to forget it and move on.”
Paxman was on the scoresheet for Ramsgate for the first time this season, but the defender has admitted he’d like to score a few more.
“I’m always pleased to get myself a goal to help the team get a result, and whilst we didn’t get the three points it could be a crucial point at some point down the line.”
“No matter what position you play, the feeling of scoring a goal is great. I’d definitely like to chip in for a few more.”
“Who knows, maybe this goal can help lead to a few more this season.”
The Rams now take on Leatherhead on Tuesday night at The Southwood Stadium in a bid to progress to the last-16.
“Leatherhead will obviously be a tough game, but If we are defensively sound at the back and clinical in the final third, we will cause them a few problems.” Paxman said.
“If we perform like we did on Saturday we can make it very difficult for them.”
