MATCH PREVIEW: East Grinstead Town vs Ramsgate FC
Ramsgate Football Club take on East Grinstead for more Isthmian League action on Saturday at the East Court Stadium, 3:00pm kick-off.
Matt Longhurst’s side will look to continue winning ways having picked up the clubs first win since November 5th with a 4-0 victory against Ebbsfleet United on Tuesday night.
Matty Robinson is available to return to action after a couple of weeks out, whilst Jude Arthurs has served his three game suspension and could be part of the squad.
Ollie Gray (hamstring) misses tomorrow’s match after he was forced off with an injury on Tuesday evening. The extent of his setback is not yet clear. Rob Saunders also misses out.
Tom Chapman remains sidelined with a wrist injury suffered four months ago, though the forward is nearing his return.
“It’s another opportunity tomorrow to go and get the three points against my former club, East Grinstead - probably more will be made of that than need be.
“I had a great four years there and there are some really fantastic people at the club. The supporters were always great to me and I’m certainly looking forward to going back there.
“But ultimately, it’s all about Ramsgate now and we have a job to do tomorrow irrespective of who it’s against.
"I don’t think too much emphasis should be made of the result tomorrow, there’s still plenty of matches to go this season and I wouldn’t want to put too much pressure on the players.
“It’s important that we treat it as just another game. We have a five point cushion on East Grinstead at the moment so it’s certainly more important for them to have to win than it is for us - we’ll just try to play our game.
“I seems to me that East Grinstead have been in a similar position as ourselves in recent weeks. They’ve put in some good performances but have been let down by silly mistakes.
“In terms of what we need to do, we need to be a little bit brighter and better in the final third but Tuesday’s performance showcased that we can add plenty of goals to our game as well.
“Now we have [Jude] Arthurs and [Matty] Robinson back as well as an in-form Ashley Miller and [Kane] Rowland who’s just bagged himself two goals from the bench in midweek.
“All in all, the squad is beginning to take shape and it takes time. Getting points on the board is the priority but there’s also a process in place that you have to go through in order to get there.
“The boys have been really receptive and they’re working hard. We’re trying our best to implement what we’ve worked on on the training ground onto the pitch.
“We going into tomorrow’s match high in confidence with a win mid-week, a good night on the training ground on Thursday and we’re looking forward to it as a group.
“I am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces but equally we have one job to do and I believe we can do it.”
