Match Report: Cray Wanderers 2 - 1 Ramsgate FC

Kent Senior Cup - Cray Wanderers 2 - 1 Ramsgate FC

A match that saw a few changes to both sides from the league matches at the weekend. Cray came out with a very set game plan which they executed very well and for the first 30 minutes put Ramsgate under a great deal of pressure, nullifying our midfield. Resulting from a Ramsgate free kick a ball played in by Jack Penny lead to a foul in the box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot up stepped Aaron Millbank to convert 31st min an undeserved lead.

From the restart Ramsgate showed their inexperience & naivety giving away a free kick mid way in to our half, a ball played deep to the back post was slotted across to an un-marked Freddie Parker to tap home a 33rd min equaliser, Ramsgate fielded more pressure until half time.

The second half was much the same a few scraps for Ramsgate going forward but no major chances, Cray kept pressing and in the 51st min that man Freddie Parker struck again. This did seem to spark a little life back into Ramsgate who after a couple of substitutions did start to press for an equaliser but to no avail.

Rams man of the match has to be Luke Watkins who seemed to have an extremely busy night between the sticks.
