MATCH REPORT: Haywards Heath 1-0 Ramsgate FC (FA Trophy Replay)
Ramsgate Football Club crashed out of the Buildbase FA Trophy after falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Haywards Heath on Tuesday night.
Trevor McCreadie’s converted penalty separated the teams on the night and Haywards Heath will now go on to face Bracknell Town FC in the Preliminary Round.
Michael Aziaya went agonisingly close to giving the Rams the lead inside 10 minutes. Jonny Steele delivered a great in-swinging cross, which was headed on from Kane Rowland into the path of Aziaya. The midfielder only had the keeper to beat, but he stood strong and produced a stunning point-blank save.
The home side registered their first attempt on goal in the 28th minute after Nico Cotton was slipped through on goal by Melford Simpson. Cotton’s shot deflected wide for a corner.
Aaron Lamont had a go from 25-yards as we approached the end of the half, and his spectacular effort produced a splendid save from Haywards Heath keeper’ Luke Glover.
Steele picked out R.Smith on the edge of the box, who tee’d up Lamont in acres of space inside the box, but his effort on goal went wide of the post, representing the last chance of the half.

Liam Friend was sent off on the hour mark after the referee judged the defender to have prevented an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Haywards Heath was awarded a penalty and Trevor McCreadie stepped up to put the home side ahead.
Rory Smith went close with a free-kick from 20-yards in the 72nd minute. Luke Glover tipped his effort over the bar as the Rams searched for an equaliser.
Despite being down to 10-men, Ramsgate were still on top throughout, but a goal wouldn’t come.
