Match Report: Haywards Heath Town F.C 2-3 Ramsgate F.C

Haywards Heath began the game on top, scoring a goal in the 2nd minute of the game which was eventually ruled out for off-side.

Tom Chapman had a good chance for The Rams in the 15th minute, which was comfortably saved by Heath goalkeeper Josh Heyburn.

Only seconds later, Rory Smith’s long range effort struck the bar. Chapman made up for his earlier miss with an overhead kick, giving Ramsgate a deserved 1-nil lead - a truly spectacular goal.

Trey Williams had a penalty claim turned down from the referee in the 29th minute after Ollie Gray put Trey through on goal with a wonderful pass, before the winger tapped it past the Heath goalkeeper, being brought down in the process.

Aaron Millbank doubled Ramsgate’s lead in the 38th minute with a headed effort. Connor Sanders with the assist from the throw in - and what a throw it was!

The second half started in very similar fashion - Haywards Heath came out the blocks fast, but no goal come of it.

Ramsgate’s Trey Williams did have another penalty claim denied by the referee in the 50th minute, this time though his trickery got him past their last defender before being taken down by the Heath goalkeeper.

The home side managed to nick a goal back against the run of play in the 66th minute, Alex Laing with a cool finish to put them back into the game.

Haywards Melford Simpson struck the bar in the 72nd minute and moments later the home side levelled the match from the penalty spot via Callum Saunders.

Tom Chapman come agonisingly close with an effort outside of the box in the 75th minute, but Heath goalkeeper Josh Heyburn managed to pull off an excellent save to tip it on to the post, keeping it at 2-2.

Chapman dazzled past three players and unleashed a shot in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper came to the rescue once again.

But, in the last seconds of the game, Trey Williams produced a bit of magic to salvage a hard earned and deserved win, ending Haywards Heath’s 7-game unbeaten run.

A great start to 2019.
