Match Report: Ramsgate FC 0-0 Arundel FC (FA Cup)
Ramsgate FC were held to a 0-0 draw in the first-qualifying round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon at Southwood.
That result means the tie will need to be determined in an FA Cup replay at Mill Road.
Tom Chapman very nearly ensured the dream start to the match for The Rams, going agonisingly wide with his shot inside the box with his weaker left-foot.
Chapman went close again as we approached the 30th minute. A dangerous cross from Tom Wynter on the left was met by a heavily marked Chapman inside the penalty area but his shot flew over the bar.
Following a great spell in possession, Kane Rowland nearly finished off a great team move with his effort on goal from the corner of the 18-yard box. Arundel keeper Dan Stevens made a comfortable save.
Chapman tried his luck as we approached the end of the half, but his attempt on goal from the edge of the box was saved. It wasn’t comfortable for the keeper’ though and his parry fell into the path of K.Rowland who struck the post at an extremely tight angle.

Rory Smith went close to putting Ramsgate into the lead in the 56th minute with his 20-yard effort whiskering past the post.
After a massive scramble in the box, K.Rowland will have been wondering how he wasn’t able to force a lead when his deflected shot on goal was saved by the fingertips of Dan Stevens.

Ramsgate kept the pressure on until the very end, but a goal just wouldn’t come.
