MATCH REPORT: Ramsgate FC 0-3 Herne Bay
Ramsgate Football Club suffered a 3-0 defeat to Herne Bay on Tuesday night at the Southwood Stadium.
A brace from Zak Ansah and a solo effort from Chris Saunders cemented a comfortable victory for the visitors.
Liam Friend had the first chance of the match inside 10 minutes with his headed effort at a tight angle. It was a great diagonal ball into the box from Matty Robinson on the left, and Friend forced the keeper to make a save.
Jonny Steele played a pass into the feet of Aaron Lamont in the middle of the park and the midfielder charged towards goal before hitting an outside-the-boot shot on goal from 20-yards, but Herne Bay keeper Robert Budd had no problem making a routine save.
KEY MOMENT: Zak Ansah gave his side the lead in the 26th minute against the run of play, but one chance was all he needed.
Just a minute later, Will Godmon pulled off a terrific save to keep the deficit down. Ansah took a shot on the corner of the 18-yard box and was dipping in but it was stopped by the fingertips of The Rams goalkeeper.
Dan Carrington nearly pulled Ramsgate level before the end of the half with his snap-shot inside the box flailing over the bar. It was a difficult one to be fair to him with bodies all around him and on the goal line.
