Match Report: Ramsgate FC 1-4 Guernsey FC
Ramsgate FC fell to a 4-1 defeat against Guernsey FC on Saturday afternoon at the Southwood Stadium.
The visitors took the lead but the goal was cancelled out shortly after thanks to Rory Smith’s equaliser inside 30 minutes.
Guernsey regained the lead as the half came to a close before tightening their grip on the game with a further two second half goals, winning 4-1 on their travels.
Ross Allen tested Will Godmon from outside the box in the 10th minute in what was the first attempt on goal for both sides. His effort was weak and caused the Rams keeper no problems.
KEY MOMENT: Ross Allen did put Guernsey ahead moments later. In what looked like a cross-shot on the edge of the box, the ball managed to scupper into the back of the net to the delight of Allen.
KEY MOMENT: Celebrations were short-lived for Guernsey as Rory Smith equalised a few minutes later. An excellent delivery from Matty Robinson on the left-wing whipped into the box and found R.Smith at the backpost, who nodded home to beat keeper Callum Stanton.
KEY MOMENT: Out of nowhere, the visitors were back in the lead following a wonder strike from centre-back Frank Tobin from 30-yards. Godmon could do absolutely nothing about that.
HT: Ramsgate FC 1-2 Guernsey FC
KEY MOMENT: Guernsey’s Carlos Canha was able to capitalise on a defensive error from Liam Friend and lobbed Godmon to increase their advantage.
KEY MOMENT: Will Fazakerely tapped home from close range to extend Guernsey’s lead to 4-1 after some great work on the right-wing from Carlos Canha, teeing up his teammate inside the box.
Rory Smith had a decent attempt on goal saved on to the post by Stanton in the 88th minute before putting it out for a corner.
From the resulting corner, Liam Friend thinks he should have a goal. The defender had an effort on goal saved off the line according to the referee, but it looked a close one!
