Match Report: Ramsgate F.C 3-1 Greenwich Borough F.C

02/02/2019

Ramsgate started on the front foot, coming close in the 2nd minute, Charlie Dickens' acrobatic effort inside the box went just over the bar.

Ollie Gray went agonisingly close in the 4th minute - his headed effort from close range hitting the woodwork.

The Rams had a chance go begging in the 10th minute. Tom Chapman whipped in a vicious low ball across goal, but it was just too much for Rory Smith who couldn't make contact and fire into an empty net.

The visitors managed to take the lead in the 13th minute, massively against the run of play. Matt Neary the man responsible.

Greenwich snuck into the game a little bit after their goal, but Ramsgate kept the pressure on. They just had little to show for it.

Ollie Gray equalised for Ramsgate in the 42nd minute. His effort was reminiscent of his chance earlier in the match - this time he beat the goalkeeper.

Greenwich keeper’ Oliver Webber, on-loan from Crystal Palace, was forced to make a great save on the stroke of half-time, Kane Rowland going close with his attempt inside the box.

The second half began, and Ramsgate started the half with a point to prove.

Smith went close to giving Ramsgate the lead the 64th minute, a shot at a tight angle troubled the keeper.

Jake Mackenzie gave Ramsgate the lead in the 68th minute. Chapman cleverly linked up well with Rowland, who played a lovely one two, allowing the winger to put in a cross and tee up Millbank in the box. His effort was saved by the Greenwich keeper, but Mackenzie was able to pick up the rebound and fire The Rams into the lead - a truly stunning goal.

Then, Gil Carvalho was in the right place at the right time to tap in from close range to score on his Ramsgate debut in the dying moments of the game - Mackenzie the provider. That was the final nail in the coffin for Borough.

Nick Davis’ side are up to 9th place in the Bostik League table as things stand following today’s victory.
