MATCH REPORT: Ramsgate FC 3-1 Whyteleafe (League)
Ramsgate Football Club extended their four-game unbeaten run to five with a 3-1 victory against Whyteleafe on Saturday afternoon at the Southwood Stadium.
Goals from Ashley Miller, Kane Rowland and Michael Aziaya cemented the win as Whyteleafe picked up a mere consolation on what was a day to forget for the visitors.
It was a relatively slow start to the game from both sides, neither creating many openings inside the opening 25 minutes, though Ramsgate dominated possession.
KEY MOMENT: Ashley Miller opened the scoring to give The Rams the lead mid-way through the half after he was released through on goal from the halfway line by Jack Paxman at right-back, who did excellently to pick out the pass. Miller charged forward, with only the keeper to beat, and the winger rolled it under him to put Ramsgate into the lead.
KEY MOMENT: Kane Rowland doubled the deficit as we approached the end of the half. Michael Aziaya, from midfield, picked out Paxman on the right-wing and the full-back danced his way past the Whyteleafe defender before delivering a tremendous cross to the back post for Rowland to smash home - a typical strikers goal.
Whyteleafe striker Junior Aikhionbare was unable to capitalise on an error from Aaron Lamont who had lost possession in midfield. Junior travelled into the box and struck an effort at goal but his shot was wayward.

Within 30 seconds of getting back underway, Lamont nearly thumped one into the top corner. Unfortunately for him, Tyler McCarthy pulled off a terrific save.
As we approached the hour mark, Lamont had another chance, going close once again. This time the midfielder had a go on the edge of the box with his weaker left foot and it may well have found the back of the net if it wasn’t for a great piece of defending by Matthew O’Donoghue, blocking the shot.
KEY MOMENT: Aziaya, who had been excellent all afternoon, put the cherry on top when he walloped home Ramsgate’s third in the 63rd minute. Lamont played a great outside-the-boot pass to Jack Morrell on the left-wing, and he played it to the feet of Miller inside the box. Realising he couldn’t get the shot off, Miller unselfishly passed to Aziaya on the edge of the 18-yard box who had no hesitation to shoot. Taking a minor deflection, the ball was in the back of the net.
Moments after coming on from the substitutes bench, Rory Smith got himself into the thick of the action in no time, troubling the Whyteleafe goalkeeper with a low effort from the right at a tight angle. His attempt on goal was well saved. It was Miller who played Rory in on goal from a great counter-attack.
KEY MOMENT: The visitors secured a consolation goal with a quarter of an hour to go - Corrie Andrews finishing off Whyteleafe’s best chance of the afternoon.
Ollie Gray went close to goal in the 82nd minute, heading an effort over the bar from Aaron Lamont’s corner.
Smith couldn’t believe his luck after being presented with a golden opportunity to add his name to the goal tally late on. Miller slipped the midfielder in again and he tried to place his effort into the bottom right corner, but McCarthy managed to get a finger tip on the shot, forcing it to whisker past the post.
