Match Report: Ramsgate FC 4 - 5 Herne Bay

Ramsgate were back in action after their FA cup exploits and what a different game we were treated to. The Rams seemed very leggy after Saturday's superb performance and coming up against a Herne Bay side desperate for points was probably not what Lloyd would have wanted for the Rams.

This was certainly not a game for the fainthearted as either side's defences that appeared non-existent throughout most of this match as the scoreline says, we were certainly treated to a goal fest.

Starting in the 10th Minute with a great Herne Bay move down the wing with a terrific cross coming in to find an unmarked Jake Embury to have a virtual tap in although it still had to be put it away Rams 0 the Bay 1. This seemed to liven up the Rams' attack and in the 14th minute an equaliser for Tom Chapman with a little work to do he fired a shot across the keeper into the right hand side of the goal. There was plenty of attacking play ensuing but it was not until the 33rd min after some sustained attacking by the Rams a ball not cleared properly by the Bay defence went to the edge of the penalty area Billy Munday rose to head the ball back into the danger area & Rory Smith swivelled and fired home in one move (pictured) to make the score Rams 2 Bay 1. End to end action continued and the Rams were awarded a penalty for a pull down in the box up steps Smith to convert 38th min 3 - 1 The Rams held out until half time under pressure this was possibly the only time the defence actually prevented goals.

After the break both sides recklessly throwing everything at each other with no regard to proper defending, and in the 53rd minute there was a scrambled goal for Embery as with the ball coming in from a corner Watkins dived low to his right only to see the ball nestle in the back of his net. Ramsgate continued to press and in the 60th minute Tom Chapman rose above the Bay defenders to head home the Rams' 4th. Now 4 - 2 the Rams seemed to think the game was won and allowed the Bay to press and take control of the middle of the park, and in the 64th minute Ben Gorham smashed home a close range shot to make it Rams 4 Bay 3. In the 81st minute the Rams gave away a a needless penalty and although Watkins saved the initial shot he could not hold the ball and Embery put away the rebound to make it 4 - 4. The dying embers of the game saw Watkins fumble a shot in the 89th minute and gift the Bay an Embery tap in for a 4 - 5 final score.

Very entertaining game with plenty of goal mouth action 5* game

Man of the match has to be Jake Embery his overall performance and topping off with 4 goals and a Bay victory.
