MATCH REPORT: Ramsgate Triumph to 3-0 Victory Against Faversham Town
Ramsgate Football Club triumphed to a three-nil victory against Faversham Town in the Isthmian League on Saturday afternoon.
Individual goals from Jude Arthurs, Giorgio Russo and Kane Rowland capped off a perfect afternoon at Southwood.
The result means Ramsgate rise above Three Bridges into 18th - 6 points off Faversham with a game in hand over the Lilywhites.
Matt Longhurst made four changes to the side that lost to Whitstable Town on Tuesday.
Aaron Simpson, Phil Starkey, Kane Rowland and Jude Arthurs returned to the team, replacing Matty Robinson, Michael Turner, Farzad Haidary and Tyrell Mitford.
Ollie Gray sat out this afternoon despite recovering from a hamstring injury suffered last month.
Jamie Maxted served the final game of his two-match suspension for an accumulation of too many bookings this season.
STARTING XI: Burns, Russo (GOAL 49’), Starkey, Thomas, Simpson, Morrish, Norman, Arthurs (GOAL 20’), Miller, Chapman, Rowland (GOAL 77’)
SUBS: Arnold, Mitford, Haidary, Meade, Oliver
Faversham’s Emmanuel Oluwasemo curled a chance wide early on and then it was Miller’s turn to put one off-target, whiskering an effort past the post from Chapman’s cross.
Jude Arthurs put The Rams ahead in the 20th minute with an exceptional strike on the edge of the 18-yard box. Miller charged through midfield, slid in Chapman down the right, and he teed up Arthurs to fire Ramsgate into the lead.
Longhurst’s side saw out the first-half comfortably in windy conditions and began the second-half in fine style.
Full-back Giorgio Russo stunned fans with his cross-shot that looped over former Ramsgate goalkeeper Luke Watkins and in to double the advantage, and it was a downhill struggle for Faversham from that point onwards.
Miller, who had been excellent all afternoon, rifled an effort onto the crossbar from 25-yards in what would have been a truly spectacular goal. Then Chapman had a header well-saved by Watkins from close-range.
It was Norman’s turn to fire onto the woodwork soon after as Ramsgate went for an illustrious third goal to put the game to bed.
Just a minute later Chapman notched his second assist of the night, setting up Rowland inside the box and he had no trouble finishing off the chance to make it three-nil.
It was a dominant display and one that put Ramsgate nine points ahead of East Grinstead at the bottom of the table.
