MATCH REPORT: Sittingbourne 1-1 Ramsgate (Rams win 5-4 on Penalties)

Ramsgate Football Club advanced into the next round of the Kent Senior Cup after beating Sittingbourne on Tuesday evening.

The home side took the lead early on but an equaliser from Ashley Miller took the game to a penalty shoot-out and Ramsgate came out on top for the third time this season.

KEY MOMENT: Johan Caney-Bryan put the home side ahead inside 10 minutes. Enoch Adjei charged down the right-wing and delivered a cross into the box which was not dealt with by The Rams defence and the Sittingbourne forward was able to capitalise.

Matty Robinson had Ramsgate’s first chance of the match in the 15th minute. The winger did well to get past his man and make his way into the box, firing an effort at goal, but his shot was blocked and nothing came of it.

Brickies midfielder Tom Fagg had released Adjei through on goal, but Ramsgate defender Rob Saunders did well to put the winger off balance, making keeper’ Jonathan Miles’ job easier, eventually making a routine save.

KEY MOMENT: A great finish from Ashley Miller inside the box levelled up the scores before the break with his weaker left-foot. It was an inch perfect shot, striking the post and trickling in, leaving Sittingbourne goalkeeper Jordan Perrin in ruins.

Sittingbourne had a chance cleared off the line by Dan Barrett on the hour mark - a piece of courageous defending that resulted in the full-back being forced off with a head injury.

It wasn’t until the 75th minute that The Rams had their first effort on goal of the second half. Bode Anidugbe placed Miller through on goal but Brickies defender Chris Webber did well to recover and block his shot on goal.
