Matt Longhurst Reacts to Whitstable Defeat - To Make the Changes we did and Still Compete Shows Progression and Depth
Matt Longhurst has reacted to Tuesday night’s 1-0 defeat away to Whitstable Town in the Kent Senior Cup.
“We had seven key players missing for the tie and I think that showed for some parts of the match. It was always going to be a tough ask.”
“Despite that I thought we were the better side in large parts even with a brand new system that the players aren’t used to.”
“Farzad didn’t have a bad first-half but he was on a booking and I didn’t want to risk him getting sent off so I gave Max Glet his debut. I thought he was very impressive. Then we managed to involve Charlie Meade and Charlie Shonk too.”
“Overall it was a disappointing result especially to concede in the manner that we did. The keeper has held his hands up, he thought it was going wide but it never.”
“In a more positive light, Whitstable was practically full strength. To make the changes we did and still compete shows the progression of this side. It shows our squad depth.”
“We’re unfortunately out of the Kent Senior Cup but there’s positives to take heading into Saturday’s Isthmian League tie against Faversham.”
