Nick Davis - Beating Steyning is Only Part One of the Job Done With Sittingbourne Around the Corner
Nick Davis has praised his side’s performance against Steyning Town in the Preliminary round of the FA Cup this weekend, but insists it’s only part one of the job done with Sittingbourne around the corner.
“Anywhere you go away from home - it’s always going to be tough, especially when the stakes are high,” Davis said.
“But, I think we ticked near enough every box in our performance today, other than keeping a clean sheet of course.
“We were very professional and at times our play was exceptional. It could have been a few more couldn’t it.”
“We are in the hat for the next round of the FA Cup and that’s great news - it was our only aim against Steyning.”
“The changing room is buzzing and we’re looking forward to our next challenge in the first qualifying round.”
Saturday’s 1-4 victory marked a perfect response to last week’s defeat to Chichester in the Isthmian League.
“We had to dwell on (Saturday’s performance vs Chichester) that for a long time. We didn’t have the Tuesday game which wasn’t ideal, so of course it was important to bounce back.” Nick said.
“Beating Steyning is only part one of the job done this weekend. All of our attention now turns to Sittingbourne on bank holiday Monday,”
“We will have a game plan and we will be ready for them.”
