Nick Davis: I'm Bitterly Disappointed - The Quality is There but we Need to Make it Count
Nick Davis has admitted his disappointment following a 1-2 defeat at home to Sittingbourne FC on Monday afternoon.
“I’m bitterly disappointed. We didn’t start particularly great. They’ve kept throwing long balls into the box, which to be fair, we dealt with fine. But, we didn’t do well with second balls.” Nick said.
“The ball obviously fell back to them on the edge of the box and his [Josh Oliver’s] miss-hit fell straight into the path of Roman Campbell, who put it away.”
“After 30 minutes, I think there was pretty much only one side in it. While we didn’t create too many clear-cut chances, we equalised before the break and kicked on from there.”
“We played some decent football without really making our final ball count. We had balls going into the box, shots from distance, but if I'm being completely honest, we never tested their keeper anywhere near enough.”
“I’m disappointed in the manner in which they scored their winning goal - I’m pretty sure it was their only shot on target in the second half. But, you’re going to get punished if you aren’t creating enough and taking your chances.”
“We should be sitting here with at least 2 points having played 2 games, but we are not. Instead, we have no points. I’m frustrated at that, especially after the high on Saturday.”
“We’re gonna dust ourselves off and go again on Saturday. The quality is there, but we need to make it count.”
Ramsgate now take on VCD Athletic on Saturday 31st August, 3:00pm kick-off, in our first away league match of the season.
