Nick Davis - I'm Not Surprised at Chichester's Performance but we Threw the Game Away
The Rams suffered a 2-1 defeat to newly promoted Chichester City on Saturday afternoon. Ollie Gray opened the scoring for Ramsgate, but a second half brace from Matthew Axell ensured a win for the visitors.
Ramsgate boss Nick Davis has praised Chichester City for their performance but insisted his side threw the game away.
"I think in the first half we had a decent performance, and we did well to restrict them. I don't think our keeper had to make a single save in that half," Nick Davis said.
"We found ourselves 1-0 up going into the break, but we should have definitely scored again. We didn't of course."
"If you don't get that second goal, which we could've and should've probably done, it can come back and bite you,"
"For them to get a last minute goal was very deflating for us."
"All credit to Chichester, you can tell they have been together for a while," the boss said.
"I wasn't surprised at all by their performance, I knew they were going to be a good side and a dangerous opponent, but I still think we threw the game away."
"It's hard to process what went wrong, what could have been done better and how we could've avoided a result like this at the moment. We need to look back and then evaluate our flaws so ultimately we can improve."
