Nick Davis on “Deserved” Victory After Nearly Letting Two Goal Lead Slip
Nick Davis believes Ramsgate would have been very unfortunate had they not come away with all 3 points against Haywards Heath Town F.C.
Trey Williams scored a last gasp winner in the 93rd minute of the game to cement a 2-3 win - his first goal for the club. Not a bad way to open your account.
Davis was impressed by his side’s never say die attitude - ultimately a key factor in getting the win.
“There’s nothing better than a 90th minute winner. But, letting a two goal lead slip is heart attack material,” Nick said.
The Rams boss also thought his side were extremely unlucky in some instances of the game.
“We hit the woodwork twice, had two blatant penalties turned down, and the penalty they got given looked a lot more soft than any of ours.”
“Maybe I’m just seeing through rose tinted glasses. We fully deserved that win, though.”
Nick Davis also admitted he would have taken a draw before the game.
“Before the game, I would’ve probably taken a point. They are unbeaten in seven,” Davis said.
“They’ve beaten the likes of Horsham and Hastings here, and had only lost 4 games all season - that’s number 5 now.”
“They are a very workmanlike side who play to their strengths very well, and it’s worked for them this campaign,” Nick continued.
“We simply outworked them and outplayed them today and I’m delighted.”
