Ramsgate FC is Pleased to Announce the Double Signing of Phil Starkey and Will Thomas
Ramsgate Football Club is pleased to announce the double signing of midfielder Phil Starkey and defender Will Thomas.
Phil joins The Rams from Herne Bay and boasts an impressive career having played for Arsenal’s Youth, Crystal Palace, Shrewsbury, Ebbsfleet and more.
“Phil gives us so much experience at this level and above. He has the characteristics that I’m looking for in terms of coming in to help aid our young players and the management team.” Matt said.
“He’s a teacher outside of football and is used to working with young lads and he’ll become one of the more senior players alongside Ollie [Gray], Kane [Rowland], Ash [Miller] and a couple of others.”
Will joins the club from Canterbury City and has also played for Sheppey United in recent times. The former Maidstone Academy man also played at East Grinstead and Hythe in the Isthmian League.
“Will has played for me in the past and has most recently played for Canterbury, but obviously with his situation there we’ve been able to snap him up.” Matt Said.
“I was disappointed to lose Will to Hythe Town in the past. He suits how I like to play and should he get back to the levels he used to be at, he’ll be a great addition to this squad no doubt.”
Ramsgate have also added defender Michael Turner and his twin brother James Turner, who is a forward, to the clubs ranks. Michael made his debut last weekend against VCD Athletic whilst James is set to be involved in tomorrow’s 18-man squad.
In addition to that, goalkeeper Charlie Burns completed his move to Ramsgate last week. The former MK Dons keeper impressed on his debut against VCD Athletic.
